Buried In The Rubble

September 28, 2011

The care attendant looked at the client in the electric wheelchair waiting for the elevator to open.  People had left out of the towers.  Walls started to crumble and the floor buckled.  “I’m staying here with you.  I’m not going to leave you here alone.” The disabled person yelled, “No, you go.  I am okay.  You go now.” At that moment the floor gave away burying the care attendant and the wheelchair bound person in the rubble.  They were found huddled together weeks later in the ashes and the tangled steel.
